A great man, not just a great actor. The museum does his acting and military career justice. The addition of his sister's artwork display adds another layer to his life story.
Bucket list trip. Great man! Fantastic town! Don't rush through the museum. Take time to read.
This is a wonderful, sweet little museum. It is housed within a humble space on the third floor of the public library, but it is full of memorabilia from Jimmy Stewart's life and career. Different rooms within the museum are dedicated to Stewart's early years in Indiana, his military career, his movie career, and re-creations of his childhood bedroom and his personal office in his later years. There is also a charming little 50-seat (or so) theatre (with real old-fashioned theatre seats!) that screens one of Stewart's movies each afternoon. The museum also contains a small gift shop. Plan for at least an hour.
The Jimmy Stewart Museum is something that is raved about within Indiana County. I’ve never known much about who this man was, but after visiting a learned a lot. i enjoyed seeing the awards, white house letters, and posters that were made.
With it being located on the side of Philadelphia Street, i felt almost rushed because i didn’t want the meter to run out of time. Due to me being there for work, the receptionist let me and my coworker into the museum for free, which was a very generous gesture. The receptionist gave us a small historical rundown as well as telling us where everything was located. the museum itself has a pretty cheap gift shop with cool stuff inside.
i wish it was a little more accessible though. Philly Street parking isn’t always the best so look forward to walking to the building if needed.
Great place to learn about a Hollywood icon. I had no idea this gem existed before I happened to see it while exploring Google maps. The woman who greeted me at the museum entrance was super friendly and welcoming. I got a detailed orientation and three introductory film options to start my visit.
Worth every bit of an hour and 15 minutes that I spent here! I love this place! Tons of memorabilia, artifacts, souvenirs and great memory making finds! Very friendly and supportive staff, also, too! Come prepared to take tons of pictures for they do allow non flash photography. Really cool and interesting finds from his life. Thank you for an amazing experience!
If you're a Jimmy Stewart fan, it's a must. Combo of personal effects, air force days, and acting. Great collection
Great place to visit if you like any of Jimmy Stewart movies! Had a showing as well of "It's a Wonderful Life" in a theatre like setting. Lots of knowledgeable staff! Lots of uniforms from Jimmy Stewart's service to our country and lots of great information about him and his movies. Even lots extra tidbits about the movie making of each of the movies as well which added to the experience. Thank You for a Wonderful, Entertaining, and Informative Museum!
